“The USA” (10-11 form)

Good afternoon!

As you know, travelling is not only the best way to pass our free time, but to get impressions. People travel to different countries and different places. Some of them like to travel to other towns and cities, other belong to the people who prefers to go abroad, because every country has its own history, that lives in its streets, buildings, squares and monuments.

The reason of our meeting is today’s conference. The participants are 10^th and 11^th forms pupils. The topic of it is “The USA”.

Let's travel now to this one of the biggest and highly developed countries in the world.

But as you know that every time you come to a new country, you try to see as much as possible. First of all, you buy a map of the country. It helps you not to lose your way.

So, the map of our conference is following:

1.      General information about the USA

2.      American Cookery and Meals(Cuisine)

3.      American Customs and Traditions

Now we invite the first participant to represent a report (10 B form)

Questions:

1.     Which state has the largest population in the USA?(California)

2.      What is the smallest state in the USA?(Rhode Island)

Meet, please, our next participant. They are pupils of our lyceum with a report about the American's Cookery and Meals (Cuisine). They are pupils of the 11^th form.

Questions:

1.     What are the traditional meals served at Thanksgiving Day? Name at least 2 (turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, green beans, sweet potatoes)

2.     For Independent Day (the 4^th of July) Americans cook food outside. What is this called? (a barbeque or a cook out)

We'll continue to learn the USA and now we speak about the American's Customs and Traditions. About them tell us the pupils of the 10 A form.

Questions:

1.      At school American students put their hand over their heart and recite what every morning? (the Pledge of Allegiance).

2.      What do Americans watch on the right of July 4^th (Independence Day or fireworks).
